Raising a Facebook Messenger bot has been a favorite past-time for grown-up companies like eBay, which outed its own shopping bot for Facebook's messaging app. The eBay Shopbot is now live and ready to handle your shopping queries. Just tell mr. Bot what do you want to buy and it will come up with suggestions, along with questions related to your search term so it can produce refined results – much like the online search in eBay works out, minus the talking to an A.I. part.
Other cool things the bot does is recognize shopping items from photos. You can upload images and the bot will search for the things found in them, although it won't be able to bring exact matches every time. Once you like something, you can press the Buy button, login with your eBay credentials, and proceed to your purchase. The eBay Shopbot is currently in beta, but it's available to all users of Facebook Messenger on Android and iOS.
