On select Android handsets, the eBay app will use AR to help sellers select the appropriate box for shipping
The latest update to the Android version of the eBay app adds something very interesting. A new feature helps sellers find the right size box to ship the item that they have sold on the online auction site. After an item is purchased, the seller can overlay different size boxes over an image of the sold product to help him/her decide which one to use. A partial screen shot used by eBay to promote the feature reveals that USPS (that's the U.S. Postal Service) rates are provided to the seller as well.
The auction site says that the feature will work on compatible devices only, but has not released the names of these handsets. If this does require Google's ARCore platform, eBay sellers with any Pixel model, the
LG V30, the
Samsung Galaxy S8/
S8+ or the
Samsung Galaxy S9/
S9+ should be able to use AR to find the best box size.
Besides adding the AR shipping box sizer, the latest update to the eBay app for Android includes a fix for an issue that was preventing the app's night theme from working correctly. The app can be found at the Google Play Store by clicking on this
link.
