The world’s first fitness tracker able to take blood pressure and ECG is here

Asus isn’t a newcomer in the wearable market, but its products aren’t as popular as those launched by Apple or Samsung. In a surprising turn of event, Asus has become the first company to launch a smart band capable of complex tasks like the ability to take blood pressure and electrocardiogram (ECG) measurements.
Typically reserved for full-fledged smartwatches, blood pressure and ECG measurements are available for the first time ever on a fitness tracker, the VivoWatch 6 AERO.
Officially unveiled late last week, the VivoWatch 6 AERO is a small smart band that weighs just 27 grams (with strap). The fitness tracker sports a tiny 1.1-inch AMOLED display and a 135 mAh battery that should last for either 5 (typical usage) or 7 (Power Save mode) days.
According to Asus, the VivoWatch 6 AERO makes use of an innovative sputter deposition process, allowing the PPG and ECG sensors to seamlessly integrate into the wristband. Thanks to all the sensors, the VivoWatch 6 AERO is able to monitor SpO2, heart rate, steps, calories, and sleep quality.
Another thing that sets the VivoWatch 6 AERO apart from many other smart bands is the inclusion of a built-in GPS, which allows for more accurate tracking of activities. Also, the fitness tracker features 5ATM water resistance and comes with the latest Asus Health AI 5.0 algorithm, which collects and analyzes data in real-time to offer users instant access to results.
Unfortunately, Asus hasn’t yet revealed how much the new VivoWatch 6 AERO costs, but we do know the fitness tracker comes in two colors: gray and black. It’s worth adding that the previous model, the VivoWatch 5 AERO was available for $130 at launch, so the new VivoWatch 6 AERO might be priced the same.
We don’t have a release date either, but it shouldn’t be too long now that the fitness tracker was officially introduced.

On the inside, Asus’ new wearable device packs all types of sensors: ECG, PPG, GPS, and G. It’s also compatible with Android 10 / iOS 13 or later and supports Bluetooth 5.0 or later.
