Commercially released around a month and a half ago and pretty aggressively advertised since then, including alongside a Samsung Galaxy S21 (for a few days or so), Apple's latest true wireless earbuds are already available at a decent discount.
But the non-Pro third-gen AirPods are reportedly right around the corner with active noise cancellation on deck and a potentially reasonable price point, not to mention Samsung's non-Pro Galaxy Buds 2, which are guaranteed to see daylight in just a couple of days and pretty much go straight for the Studio Buds' jugular at $150 or so.
Although the Beats Studio Buds are still quite expensive by Echo Buds standards while not promising to fight against germs or anything out of the ordinary, their ANC capabilities, solid battery life, distinctive design, IPX4 water resistance, state-of-the-art Bluetooth 5.2 technology, and chromatic variety are just a few of the key reasons why you'd want to take this model into consideration as an alternative to
the industry-leading AirPods.
Before making your decision, you should know that the AirPods 2 with a wireless charging case bundled in are still on sale at $69 off their $199 list price, which makes them exactly as affordable as the Studio Buds at the time of this writing.
Of course, you'll be making the same wireless charging sacrifice if you do opt for the Beats Studio Buds at their first ever discount... while adding active noise cancellation, a couple of hours of extra battery life (with ANC switched off), and resistance to sweat and splashes to the equation.
Given that the noise-cancelling Beats Studio Buds were significantly more affordable than the AirPods Pro right off the bat, also undercutting the "regular" AirPods with and without a wireless charging case at a $150 list price, you might be a little surprised to see Amazon sell these bad boys at 20 bucks off in all three color options (black, red, and white).
Otherwise put, competition in this thriving but increasingly crowded market is only set to continue heating up after the recent launches of Amazon's dirt-cheap second-gen Echo Buds and several new members of LG's one-of-a-kind Tone Free family.
Apple's second-gen AirPods with a wired charging case are also considerably cheaper than usual, but if you ask us, their hot new $45 markdown is still not enough to justify that compromise.
