Apple's 5th Generation iPad is on sale at Walmart at $130 off list with 128GB storage
The conditions of the deal/s may have changed since the initial publishing of this post.
While Apple almost never offers iPhones and iPads at discounted prices (trade-in deals and gift cards notwithstanding), we’ve seen quite a few third-party retailers lately holding attractive sales on iOS tablets.
Most of these substantially marked-down products have been older generations of Apple’s hot-selling 9.7, 10.5, and 12.9-inchers, with a fresh Walmart promotion available right now for the 5th Generation non-Pro iPad.
We’re talking about a March 2017-released 9.7-inch slate that got a (light) upgrade in the spring of 2018. The fifth and sixth-generation iPads are pretty much identical in terms of design, with the latter model jumping from an Apple A9 processor to an A10 Fusion, while supporting a (separately sold) Pencil.
Walmart shoppers can get last year’s “regular” iPad at only $299.99 with 128GB storage and no LTE connectivity, down from a $429 list price. Obviously, Apple no longer sells this variant brand-new, but its refurbished Wi-Fi-limited 128 gig units are actually 10 bucks pricier than the unused devices on sale at Walmart at the time of this writing.
Unfortunately, you don’t get a lot of chromatic choice, as the only color option available at 300 bucks is the snazzy gold one. But as far as we can tell, there’s really nothing else you need to take into consideration before pulling the trigger here. No special requirements, no limitations, no catches, no strings attached, no nothing.
Just a respectable tablet with a timeless design, beautiful “Retina” display, reliable Touch ID fingerprint sensor, convenient Apple Pay support, decent enough 8MP rear-facing camera and 1.2MP front shooter, and colossal storage space at an essentially unbeatable price. Just don't expect this to last forever.
