Amazon's third-gen Echo Dot smart speaker goes half off for a limited time
The conditions of the deal/s may have changed since the initial publishing of this post.
Amazon unleashed a bona fide torrent of new Alexa-powered gadgets at a special event a couple of weeks ago, some of which are meant to give the company opportunities to move into uncharted territory occupied by major rivals, while others are simply refreshed variants of existing bestsellers.
Technically, the Echo Dot with Clock can't be filed in either of the two categories, building on the success of the "regular" Echo Dot with an interesting little twist to possibly carve out another niche in the fast-growing smart home market. But although Amazon's third-gen Echo Dot (without a clock) has yet to receive a direct sequel, Woot is offering a massive discount for a limited time... under one key condition.
You need to be a Prime member to qualify for a $24.99 Echo Dot (2018) over at Amazon's subsidiary, with Charcoal and Sandstone flavors available at the time of this writing brand-new, unused, unopened, and undamaged alongside a standard 90-day manufacturer's warranty. Typically priced at $49.99, the diminutive smart speaker has actually scored identical 50 percent cuts a few times before, which doesn't make this latest deal any less attractive.
While the little guy is by no means what we'd call an audio powerhouse, its set of Alexa skills is pretty much identical to that of a "normal-sized" Echo. We're talking hands-free music streaming, smart home controls, voice calls, web queries, alarms, timers, calendar events, reminders, news and weather information, and so much more. All in exchange for a measly 25 bucks until October 13 at 12AM CT or whenever Woot sells out its remaining inventory in the two aforementioned hues. By the way, the third-generation Echo Dot is also incredibly stylish (for a $24.99 device), with the same sleek fabric design as recent Echo and Echo Plus editions.
