ZTE's top-shelf Nubia Z7 and Z7 mini pass certification, listing the 'mini' with 5" 1080p display and 2 GHz CPU
Just like with the Nubia Z5s mini, the upscale brand of ZTE is planning to release a "mini" version of its upcoming Z7 flagship, dubbed tentatively the Z7 mini. The drool-worthy Z7 already leaked out with what looks to be an aluminum unibody, and top-of-the-line specs sheet. Now, the Chinese equivalent of the FCC, has listed in its database of phones for approval the Nubia NX507J and NX505J. The NX505J has a 5.5-inch of display, indicating this is the Nubia Z7 flagship, while the NX507J could very well be the Nubia Z7 Mini.

It's been given the green light by the regulator already, and some interesting tidbits about the actual specs have leaked out as a result. The "mini" is actually with a 5" display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. Moreover, the ZTE Nubia NX507J sports a 2 GHz quad-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, 8 MP rear and 5 MP frontal camera. The internal storage is pegged at 16 GB, but this can be expanded via a microSD card.

As for the size, the eventual Nubia Z7 mini dimensions are almost equal to the ones of the Nubia Z7, which has a purported 5.5" display diagonal. This may sound strange, but the leaked picture of the Z7 yesterday showcases a very good screen-to-phone size ratio, thanks to the minimal top bezel, mimicking Sharp's EDGEST design. Thus, the Z7 will be very compact for its screen size, while the Z7 mini will sport dimensions typical for the other 5-inchers out there. The phone runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat, and is expected to be announced this month.
