ZTE patents another smartphone with dual notch display design
Although ZTE seems to be hit with restrictions from all sides, the Chinese company has no issues in patenting new products that might or might not see the light of day.
The newest patent ZTE filed at China's State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) reveals an unusual smartphone design that features not one, but two notches – one at the top, and another one at the bottom.
It's the second patent for a dual-notch smartphone that ZTE filed in China, so the handset maker could be very serious about this specific design. Even though the notch is a rather controversial feature, ZTE seems determined to go notch all the way.
In any case, it's worth noting that the second patent submitted by ZTE shows a device that it's more akin to the Essential Phone, thus featuring a very small notch on the top side and a slightly larger one at the bottom that accommodates the home button.

The initial patent filed by the company, also known as ZTE Iceberg, has two much larger notches at the top and bottom. If either of these devices is to be launched on the market, they might not be announced until next year.
