Apple iPhone users can now install Yahoo Messenger and add a number of features to their handset. As we recently reported, the app adds 3G video calling, which will take advantage of the front and rear facing cameras on the iPhone 4 and the rear camera on the iPhone 3GS. Video calls can be made to anyone using Yahoo Messenger whether it be on a desktop PC or on an Android flavored device. This function meshes well with the Face Time feature on the Apple iPhone 4 which is available only when both parties are using Wi-Fi.
Other features on the Yahoo application include free SMS, support to make free calls to other Yahoo Messenger users and low priced VoIP calls to international numbers using your Yahoo Voice Phone Out account. The latter service is available only to users in the U.S., France, Germany, Spain and Singapore. The app can be downloaded for free from the App Store.
