Yahoo & Nokia holding an event in NYC on May 24th for "Project Nike"
Partnerships in the mobile world can ensure that companies will be able to retain a prominent presence in the industry, but it looks like a relatively quiet company in the mobile community is about to forge a partnership with the world's largest phone maker. There is going to be an event held in New York City on May 24th where Yahoo will be announcing “Project Nike” that's something they've been collaborating with Nokia for quite some time. Essentially it's being regarded as something related to “providing global consumers with rich online and mobile experiences, and bringing forward a new era in keeping consumers connected.” It definitely doesn't have to do with any sports apparel, instead “Project Nike” is named after the Greek goddess of victory – so it would remain certain that Yahoo probably intends on bringing aboard their search, email, and other services to some of Nokia's handsets. Interestingly enough, Yahoo has made some strides in the mobile market as they've recently struck a deal with Samsung to load some of its mobile services on some of their bada and Android devices. Monday morning should prove to be somewhat refreshing to look forward to after the long weekend ahead.
