Unannounced Sony Xperia XZ3 appears in case renders
The still-unannounced Sony Xperia XZ3 was the subject of a listing on MobileFun; the U.K. e-tailer is accepting pre-orders for the phone. MobileFun now also has a set of Xperia XZ3 cases listed on its website which give us a glimpse of what the phone may look like. Design-wise, the phone appears to share a lot with the Xperia XZ2, including the glass construction and the awkward placement of the fingerprint reader at the back. A dual-camera arrangement is also present.
The handset will reportedly feature a 5.7-inch display with a 1080 x 2160 resolution for an aspect ratio of 18:9. Driving the phone, according to leaks, will be the Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform. 6GB of RAM is inside along with 64GB of native storage. While there have been varying rumors about the number of cameras on the unit, this last one mentions a dual camera setup on back (19MP + 12MP) and a single 13MP front-facing selfie snapper. The dual-cam is likely to be identical to the one on the Xperia XZ2 Premium, pairing a main sensor with a secondary monochrome one for increased camera sensitivity. Keeping the lights on is a 3240mAh battery.
MobileFun seeks 850 euro (the equivalent of about $995) to pre-order the handset. This makes it safe to assume that the phone could launch at around $850 in the U.S.
Keep in mind that these are not official images of the Xperia XZ3, hence the final design might vary from what is pictured here. Speculation has it that the phone may be announced at the IFA trade show in Berlin at the end of August.
