Xoom 2 to hit Verizon on December 8th
A leaked screen shot from Verizon shows a launch date of December 8th for the Xoom 2. The leaked document listed a MAP (Minimum Advertised Pricing) of $529 dollars. This is the same price as the international version; the U.S. version was expected to list at a lower price, so it’s unclear if the price is a place-holder, or if advertised prices will be pegged to the international version.
The Xoom 2, which may launch with the name “DROID XYBOARD” on Verizon, is expected to ship with a dual-core 1.2GHz OMAP CPU, an improved display, and a thinner case. The corners of the Xoom 2 have inherited the angled corners first seen on the Photon 4G this summer.
December 8th could shape up to be a busy day for Verizon. In addition to the launch of the smaller, 8” Xoom 2 Media Edition, current rumors have pegged the 8th as the most likely launch date of the Verizon variant of the Galaxy Nexus, which recent reports indicated may ship as the Nexus Prime.

The Xoom 2 is a sleek-looking tablet, but it’s unknown whether it will be shipping with Honeycomb or Ice Cream Sandwich. With the ICS-packing quad-core Asus Transformer Prime now expected to hit stores on December 16th, it will be interesting to see if the Xoom 2/DROID XYBOARD manages to carve out its own market niche over the holidays.
