Xiaomi to rollout MIUI 7.1 tomorrow at 11am via OTA update?

3comments

Xiaomi will reportedly be sending out an OTA update starting tomorrow morning at 11am in China, to disseminate the latest version of its user interface. MIUI 7.1 will replace the currently employed MIUI 7.0, and will be pushed out to a number of Xiaomi devices. The update comes five months after MIUI 7 was released. At the moment, it isn't certain which Android build MIUI 7.1 is based on.

The handsets receiving the updated UI will include the Xiaomi Mi 3, Xiaomi Mi 4, Xiaomi Mi Note, Xiaomi Mi 4i, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G, Xiaomi Redmi 2, Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime, Xiaomi Redmi 1S, Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime, Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3G and Xiaomi Mi Pad. A ROM containing version 7.1.2 has already been made available for the Xiaomi Mi 2 and Xiaomi Mi 2S.

If you own one of the devices listed above (not including the Mi 2/Mi 2S), you need to make sure that you are connected to a Wi-Fi network, and that your battery is powered up to at least 50% prior to downloading and installing the update. Since it is being sent OTA, MIUI 7.1 will be distributed in waves. This means that if it doesn't hit your phone precisely at 11am tomorrow, don't panic. It might take a few extra days, but MIUI 7.1 will eventually hit your phone or tablet.
