Xiaomi to buy OLED panels from LG next year?

While it would appear that Apple is going to stick with LCD screens for the iPhone, at least for the present time, Xiaomi might be making the change to OLED as soon as next year. Out of Korea comes a report that LG and Xiaomi are in talks to hammer out the specifics of a deal which would result in the latter purchasing OLED panels from LG.

LG Display is looking to grab more business outside of the purchase orders it receives from its own parent company, LG Electronics. With the display manufacturer increasing OLED production, a deal with Xiaomi would come at a perfect time. The terms of the deal should be hammered out by the end of this year.

While Xiaomi has purchased OLED panels from LG during the last two-years, the company is looking to add phones sporting OLED screens to its lineup next year, including the Xiaomi Mi 5. That model is expected to be Xiaomi's next flagship phone. LG will start delivering the OLED panels to Xiaomi during the second quarter of 2016.
