Xiaomi is awarded TENAA cerification for its $65 Leadcore phone
Back in November, we told you about an extremely affordable handset being prepped by Xiaomi. Now, the $65 phone has been certified by TENAA, China's version of the FCC. The red hot manufacturer is shaving some money off of the device by using the low cost Leadcore LC1860 CPU (clocked at 1.6GHz). The Mali T628 GPU crunches the graphics. The unit will also feature Dual SIM capabilities.
Other specs include the 4.7-inch, 720 x 1280 resolution display that the model will be equipped with. 1GB of RAM is on board along with 8GB of native storage. An 8MP camera will be found on back of the handset, while a 2MP shooter adorns the front of the phone. Android 4.4.4 is pre-installed.
The unnamed model visited TENAA with GSM / TD-SCDMA/ TD-LTE connectivity, which suggests that China Mobile customers (of which there are many) will have the opportunity to get their mitts on the phone. We're sure that a $65 Xiaomi handset with these specs would probably do well in any market. And there is competition already. Huawei, already locked in a rivalry with Xiaomi, is said to be working on a similarly priced and spec'd handset.
Thanks for the tip!
