Xiaomi breaking records in September, over 10 million units shipped in 30 days
Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi has managed to ship over 10 million smartphones for the month of September. Company CEO Lei Jun recently broke the news with a celebratory post on Chinese website Weibo.
According to the executive, this is the first time in which Xiaomi has shipped so many units within a single month. For comparison, the company dispatched a total of 23.2 million units in Q2 2017, which put it in fifth place in terms of worldwide smartphone shipments.
So, how did the tech giant manage to achieve this feat? It looks like the Indian market played an important part, as 10 percent of the handsets shipped in September were sold over the course of two days in the South Asian country.
This was done thanks to flash sales which commemorated Diwali - one of the most popular festivals of the Hinduist faith. Last month, Xiaomi also released two interesting new models - the Mi Note 3 and the Mi A1 which features a clean Android interface.
These results show that Xiaomi is enjoying massive a year-over-year increase compared to 2016. Last year, the company shipped 58 million phones, down from 70 million in 2015.
