Xiaomi Mi 5 powered by the SD-820 SoC posts a six-figure score on AnTuTu (UPDATE)

If the results of a benchmark test are legit, the Xiaomi Mi 5 is going to be quite a powerhouse. The flagship handset, expected to be unveiled on January 21st, posted a score of 101,339 on the AnTuTu benchmark test. The phone is driven by the Snapdragon 820 chipset, which carries a quad-core CPU and the Adreno 530 GPU. The results of the benchmark test were discovered on Weibo.

While the score bodes well for the Snapdragon 820 SoC, the Exynos 8890 chipset recently tallied a score of 103,692 on AnTuTu, topping Qualcomm's latest and greatest. The Samsung produced Exynos 8890 will find itself inside the next iteration of Sammy's high-end phones, including the Samsung Galaxy S7. Galaxy S7 handsets heading to the U.S. or China will be powered by the Snapdragon 820 chipset.

The Kirin 950 SoC, Huawei's top-of-the-line chipset, put up a 94,250 score on AnTuTu while driving the Huawei Mate 8. The Huawei Mate 8 is expected to be released tomorrow.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 is now rumored to be unveiled on January 21st. The phone could launch some time in February.

Thanks for the tip!

UPDATE: According to AnTuTu's verified Weibo account, these results are from an simulator, not from the actual AnTuTu test. With the Snapdragon 820 powering the Xiaomi Mi 5, we would expect the Mi 5 to score high. Still, results from a simulator are not legitimate so disregard the score.
