Xiaomi CEO shows off Mi MIX 2 retail box, various other teaser images

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has been rather active on social media these days. A quick look through the executive's Weibo account reveals a constant stream of teasers, photos, and tidbits of information about the company's upcoming bezel-less heavyweight - the Mi MIX 2

Perhaps the most exciting teasers of the bunch are these two photos showing off the retail box that the Mi MIX 2 is going to ship in.

Sadly, the package doesn't sport a picture of the phone itself, but we have to say that the minimalistic black/gold combination looks quite nice. Apart from that, there are quite a few images of the promo campaign for the Mi MIX 2 in China. You can check them out in the gallery below.

It's interesting to note that the contours of the phone in these teasers are more or less identical to the supposed live images that have emerged so far, giving them even more credibility. In every pic, we see three extra thin bezels on the left, right, and top, with a slightly thicker chin situated at the bottom.

Looks aside, the new Mi MIX will pack a Snapdragon 835 chipset with an octa-core CPU and the Adreno 540 GPU. Three versions of the phone are reportedly on the way. The base model will have 4GB of RAM and 128GB of native storage. A mid-range variant is expected to feature 6GB of RAM along with 128GB of native storage, and the top model is said to be equipped with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of native storage. A 19MP camera is rumored to grace the back of the Mi MIX 2, with a 13MP front-facing selfie snapper.

The device will officially break cover on September 11, a day before the announcement of Apple's new iPhones.
