Windows Phone to receive Barclays Pingit banking app “very soon”
Back in February 2013, Barclays, one of the biggest banks in the UK, announced that it is planning to release a Windows Phone version of its Pingit app “by the end of the year” (2013). The financial institution even conducted a survey among 370,000 customers, which convinced the bank that a big number of its customers use Windows Phone devices and a Pingit version of the app for Microsoft's mobile platform will be more than welcome. Despite this, no Windows Phone version of the Barclays banking app was released in 2013.

However, according to a recent tweet, the financial giant is in the testing phase for the Windows Phone version of Pingit. Barclays claimed that it would be released “very soon“. The quick payment transfer system Pingit allows users, who are 16 or over and have a UK-registered bank account, to send and receive money using only their mobile phone number. One can use the Pingit with either Barclays or any other UK-based bank.

The free-to-use Pingit app is available for iOS, Android and BlackBerry.
