Windows Phone might outgrow Blackberry in the United States around November 2012
Windows Phone isn’t the fastest growing platform out there - it’s competing to become the world’s third ecosystem, but so far it ranks sixth or at best fifth following not only Android and iOS, but also the dated Symbian and BlackBerry, and under some estimates even Samsung’s bada. Finally, however, Windows Phone is on track to outgrowing at least one of its rivals and that’s RIM’s BlackBerry.
Not because of Microsoft’s platform tremendous growth - rather because BlackBerry is sliding very, very fast. Mapping the trends on StatCounter shows that Windows Phone and assuming sales continue moving at a similar pace, we might see WP take over BlackBerry as soon as in this November.
Now, what’s not accounted for in this extrapolation is the fact that Windows Phone is expected to receive a big sales push once Windows Phone 8 and the new devices with it launch around October, as expected. BlackBerry 10 on the other hand has been delayed, and is now set to arrive only in 2013. So chances are that Windows Phone will outgrow BlackBerry soon, the real question is when exactly.
