Windows Mobile phones receiving text from the year 2016
Humanity lived on without too many disturbances when the clocks hit midnight and the new millennium was upon us – the Y2K bug didn’t bite us too hard then. Now certain mobile phones have been experiencing some unusual activities when they send or receive text messages. The year 2012 may be the most watched out year depending if you believe all the myth around it, but the year 2016 is coming in mind as of today. Text messages are coming up as being dated 2016 and is affecting different Windows Mobile 6.1 and 6.5 phones – it’s apparently hitting other non-Windows Mobile handsets as well. We did a spot check on two of our own handsets, one running WM 6.1 and the other 6.5, and were flabbergasted when we noticed we were receiving messages dated 2016. So far HTC and LG are aware of this – which is also affecting all carriers in different regions. No word on a possible fix for this so far, but we’d guess there will be one available soon. Has anyone else experienced this?
