The newly updated version of Microsoft's smartphone platform, Windows Mobile 6.5, is expected to be launched May 11th at the company's Tech Ed 2009 show in L.A. This information is reported on the Windows Mobile Team Blog and says that the announcement should take place during day one of the show between 1pm and 2:15pm at a session aimed at IT professionals and developers. Once the OS is released, it will be up to the handset manufacturers to load the software onto their devices before the public gets the chance to use it.
As we previously
reported, the Windows Mobile platform is currently trails Symbian and RIM in mobile OS market share. In the same article, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said that Windows Mobile 7 would be out in 2010.
