Winamp makes its way to Android
Back in the day when Windows Media Player and RealPlayer were in their infancy, there was Winamp that dominated PCs for playing back MP3 music files. Now Nullsoft, the company behind Winamp, is bringing their decade of experience to an Android phone near you. Even though its still in beta (version 0.9.1) it works rather well on our Motorola DROID X (Froyo) unit. Music played through Winamp sounds good, but we noticed it can't access Android's Audio Effects (EQ) directly in the program, but instead you have to go into the phone's settings to access it. We also like that Winamp's desktop widget shows the album art and has more controls than the stock Android music player. It also offers a complete media management solution by seamlessly syncing with your Winamp desktop library via Wi-Fi, though standard USB sync is also avaliable. You can download the Winamp player directly from the Android Market or by scanning the QR code below. Let us know if you give it a try!
