WhatsApp experiencing server issues, UPDATE: messaging services restored

As if WhatsApp was not in the news enough already, a few readers sent us tips about WhatsApp being down. It is not just you, the servers are not performing their assigned task it would seem.

For what it is worth, the WhatsApp gang in California is pretty good about getting things up and running again. Based on previous activity with the company’s official “status” Twitter feed, WhatsApp seems to have an issue about once a month.

The formal announcement went out about an hour ago, and we have not seen any instance where it took more than a few hours to get their boards reading “green.” In the meantime, do not forget good old fashioned SMS, or GroupMe, or Skype, or a host of other services that can handle your messaging needs.

Meanwhile, thanks to our readers that gave us the heads up.

UPDATE: WhatsApp services are back up.  We have been using it for a few minutes now and WhatsApp has confirmed the restoration.
