Last week, we told you that the rumored Samsung Galaxy O series could be a new smartphone series that is the result of a partnership between Samsung and Oculus. The phones would focus on VR functionality. There is a possibility that these Galaxy O phones could be unveiled next month when Oculus holds its Connect2 event in Hollywood, from September 23rd through the 25th. The Samsung Galaxy O5 is expected to carry the model number SM-G550, and the Samsung Galaxy O7 will be the SM-G600.
A Samsung device with the model number SM-G6000 has been certified by the Bluetooth SIG. This could be a carrier version, or a regional version of the SM-G600 (Samsung Galaxy O7). Under design description, the listing says "Samsung Mobile Device," which still leaves open the slim possibility that the Galaxy O will be a stand-alone VR headset.
Assuming that the Galaxy O5 and Galaxy O7 are indeed new smartphones that are VR-centric devices, there is at least one thing that we know about them. They both support Bluetooth connectivity!
With Connect2 less than a month away, we should start seeing more leaks, news and information pertaining to the Samsung Galaxy O devices. Feel free to come by often to see what's up about this rumored new smartphone series from Samsung.
