Walnut cracking Doogee Valencia2 Y100 Pro now offered with a strengthened display
Before the Doogee Valencia2 Y100 hit the shelves, the company's engineers realized that the 2.5D glass would crack and shatter during drop tests. So the manufacturer decided to use a version of Gorilla Glass .8mm thicker than the standard version of Corning's protective product. In addition, the display is coated with a special nano shell that lessens the chances of it cracking.
To show how strong the screen is following the revisions, Doogee produced a video showing the Valencia2 Y100 being used as a walnut cracker using the phone's newly reinforced display. After cracking a number of walnuts, the screen remained pristine.
With a plastic build and rounded corners, the Doogee Valencia2 Y100 comes with a 5-inch screen carrying a 720 x 1280 resolution. The 64-bit MediaTek MT6735 SoC is under the hood containing a quad-core 1.3GHz CPU and the Mali-T720 GPU. 2GB of RAM is inside along with 16GB of internal storage. The 13MP rear-facing camera contains a Sony sensor, and there is a front-facing 8MP snapper available to take selfies and handle video chats. A 2200mAh battery keeps the lights on, and Android 5.1 is pre-installed. The phone is available from Chinese retailers in the country, priced at only $129.99 USD.
