W00t! Nook Color rooted to turn into cheap Android tablet
In store for cheap Android tablets? You might want to think about the Nook Color after you read this. Folks at XDA Dev, our favorite source of hacks, came up with a way to root Barnes and Noble's book reader and turn it into a fully functional Android tablet. Or a broken e-reader, of course. So let's make this clear, you should be extra careful when trying this at home. You have been warned, so feel free to check your hacking skills and root your Nook Color as per the instructions provided by nookDevs.
Developers of the XDA forum managed to run Angry Birds on the Nook Color as well as the Launcher Pro app. But Angry Birds and the Launcher Pro are far from being the only apps you can install – after the rooting you can run many other apps as well. Check out the video below for a demonstration of how some apps like Google Earth run on the rooted device. It's a bit sluggish, but at a price tag of $250 we would deal with that. And if you thought to get the Nook Color as a gift - hurry up, it seems they will not last long.
