Vivo teases a retina scanner for the Vivo X5Pro
Over the years, we've heard rumors about a retina scanner being included on flagship phones coming from Apple and Samsung. But these rumors never panned out. The latest speculation involves the Vivo X5Pro. And what makes this more believable is that it is based on a teaser produced by Vivo itself. The teaser shows how the scanner will read the unique pattern of veins in a user's eye to enhance the security of the phone (thus the security shield on the image). The retina scanner is said to be more secure than a fingerprint scanner.

The Vivo X5Pro, as we told you the other day, is expected to feature a front-facing camera that will digitally stitch together images to create a 32MP photograph. It is the same technology employed by the rear snapper on the Oppo Find 7. Other specs include double-sided 2.5D glass panels on the front and back of the phone, which will be equipped with a metal frame. The rear camera will use phase-detection AutoFocus.

The handset will be driven by the 64-bit Snapdragon 615 CPU, and the new USB Type-C connector will be on board. The technology on the cable means that the plug can be used with either end facing up. For a phone that is being described as a mid-range handset, the Vivo X5Pro will apparently stuffed to the brim with interesting features.

There is still no word on when we might see this model unveiled, but we will pass that information on to you once a date has been announced.
