GSM Israel thought it had captured on video a fully assembled 6th generation Apple iPhone at IFA. The device was spotted during a tour of the show in Berlin. The phone in the video looks like some of the devices that were "assembled" using parts that have been leaked separately over the last few weeks. GSM Israel says that the CEO of one of the biggest case manufacturers, who had the phone in his pocket, verified the device as being a genuine Apple iPhone 5. The executive asked that the device not be turned on as it would expose him as being the source of the leak.
Both the Model number and the FCC ID belong to the Apple iPhone 3GS
However, Apple Insider questioned the validity of the model in the video noting that the reflections on the screen of the device are those usually found from a synthetic material and not from a screen using Gorilla Glass. More telling, the model number on the handset "Model NO. A1303," had already been used by Apple for the Apple iPhone 3GS and the FCC ID of "BCGA1303A" was the FCC ID for the Apple iPhone 3GS.
While the device in the video isn't the real thing, it certainly is a nice looking mock-up that gives us a good idea of what to expect in Tim Cooks hands during Apple's September 12th event.
