Verizon's BlackBerry Tour to begin Push-to-Talk service on March 30th?
A bit more than a week ago, we reported about Verizon's plan to offer "Push-To-Talk" service on the BlackBerry Tour for $5 a month. Verizon reps are getting hands-on training now, according to a Crackberry tipster. While the software has been available to be installed on the handset, the service will not begin until March 30th. That date comes via a screen shot of some internal Verizon communication, which also explains Big Red's goals "to increase our PTT customer base in 2010 with this new offering, by winning over customers from the competition and encouraging some of our BlackBerry smartphone customers to begin using the PTT service." So a week from Tuesday, Tour owners on Verizon will be able to exchange a fiver each month for the chance to instantly connect with others using PTT, thus taking the carrier's BlackBerry Tour out of the boardroom and on to the construction site.
