Verizon getting the Acer ICONIA Tab A500 Android tablet
So, what do we have here? A new tablet has just been announced at CES by Acer and Verizon - the Acer ICONIA Tab A500. Not to be mistaken with the Acer ICONIA that we've seen before, this one here runs an unspecified version of Android, with a custom interface on top called Acer UI 4.5. The tablet will sport a healthy-sized 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen, as well as the nVidiaTegra 2 chipset, which will grant the device some dual-core processing power with full 1080p HD playback capabilities (yep, an HDMI port is present).
The Acer ICONIA Tab A500 for Verizon will take advantage of the carrier's newly established LTE network, so as to deliver blazing-fast web browsing speeds. Additional goodies include Flash Player 10.1 support and a built-in gyroscope that should help make gaming on the device easier.
Unfortunately, no release date for this promising device was given, but we hope this will happen soon enough. However, the Acer ICONIA Tab A500 is being showcased here at CES, so we hope we'll be able to bring you a quick hands-on article later. Stay tuned!
