Verizon branded HTC One (M8) receives Android 5.0 update
Verizon subscribers with the HTC One (M8), we have good news for you tonight. The Verizon HTC One (M8) is finally receiving the Android 5.0 update. Yes, it is coming almost exactly one month late, but it is now being pushed out. You might recall the promise that HTC made to update the HTC One (M8) within 90 days after receiving the final version of the update from Google. That was delivered on November 3rd. The following month, HTC said it was on track to meet its promise. But by the time February 3rd came around, it was obvious that HTC was not going to meet the deadline.
The HTC One (M8) Verizon update brings the Lock Screen notifications, "Recent Apps" menu, Project Volta, 64-bit ART compiler and the Lollipop Android 5.0 Material Design to name a few. While Verizon subscribers might feel that they have waited the longest for this update, AT&T account holders with the HTC One (M8) received Android 4.4.4 on January 19th which means it could be some time before this group gets Lollipopped.

Those Verizon subscribers with the HTC One (M8) should make sure that they are on a Wi-Fi connection when downloading and installing the update as it is quite hefty. You should also make sure that your battery is charged to at least 50%. Keep in mind that the update is being sent out on a staggered basis. If you don't get it today, you might tomorrow. And if you don't get it tomorrow, there is no need to look for a tall building to launch yourself from. The update will eventually arrive. You can try to coax it out manually by going to Settings > Software Update > Check New.
