Verizon adds new tier for its shared data plan
On Monday, Verizon added a new tier of service for those who don't use much data each month. This limited time offering goes into effect on Tuesday and offers 250MB of data each month for $20. Verizon's Share Everything plan starts with a monthly $30 charge for each feature phone and $40 for each smartphone included. That gives users free unlimited voice and text. The customer then decides how much data to split amongst all of the smartphones on the plan. This means that smartphone users can receive unlimited calls, texts, and 250MB of data to split, for $60 monthly.
This new tier might not generate as much business as Verizon is hoping for. Consider that for the same $60 a month, T-Mobile customers can receive unlimited talk, text and 2.5GB of data. Toss in another $20 and you have unlimited talk, text and data each month.
