Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD tablet getting Android 7.0 Nougat update

1comment

Surprisingly, Verizon announced one of its not so popular Android tablets, the Ellipsis 8 HD is now eligible for an Android 7.0 Nougat update. It's been nine months since the slab made its debut at Verizon with Android 6.0 Marshmallow on board, and we thought it's highly unlikely that the Ellipsis 8 HD would ever get any major OS update.

Big Red confirmed recently that firmware version SUN1_20A10 will bring the tablet's OS version to Android 7.0 Nougat. Also, the carrier added a couple of improvements and bug fixes on top of all the new features included in the update.

For example, the update is supposed to improve data speeds on LTE networks. Furthermore, camera focus and image sharpness have been improved as well. Although the carrier mentions the update included the latest Android security patches and bug fixes, there's no guarantee that it comes with the August security update.

Last but not least, the update adds support for microSD card up to 256GB capacity and fixes Android Data usage meter. It's also worth pointing out that the Android Nougat update for Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD is pushed in stages, so it will take a few days to reach everyone.
