Users will be able to create VR/AR apps with Apple's upcoming headset

In 2023, Apple is entering the fray and launching a VR/AR (i.e. virtual/augmented reality) headset, which is reportedly dubbed the Reality Pro, of its own. After years of preparation, the device is expected to be announced by June of this year… and it seems that this is just the beginning.

A couple of months ago, Tim Cook alluded to the fact that AR could be the next big thing for Apple. Now it seems the Cupertino company is doing it best to make that a reality, pun intended. Not only is Apple rumored to be already working on a successor to the Reality Pro, but also the company is developing a way to enable anyone with the first-generation headset to create AR apps via the assistance of Siri.

The source of this interesting new rumor is an article by the Information, which was subsequently spotted and covered by MacRumors. According to the original piece, the tool will be similar to Minecraft and Roblox, two popular sandbox games.

It should be noted that if Apple wants to succeed in its VR/AR endeavor in the long term, it really needs to perfect the software and the ecosystem behind any and all headsets. Given that the Reality Pro will be a rather niche device, because of Apple’s strategy and the $3000+ price tag, it is likely to attract hardcore many VR/AR enthusiasts. This creates the perfect opportunity for such an AR/VR content creation tool to thrive.
