Upcoming firmware upgrade for Nokia 5800 XpressMusic to include kinetic scrolling?
Nokia Malaysia recently held a little get together and one of the items discussed was feedback from users of the 5800 XpressMusic. Apparently, the Finnish manufacturer is working on a firmware upgrade which is now in the testing stage. Some of the changes will add features from the 5530 XpressMusic to the 5800 XM. A partial list of improvements includes kinetic scrolling (similar to the N97 and the 5530 XM), an enhanced home page (like the N97), better camera performance and improved response times.
The thought is that the upgrade may not be released until the 4th quarter at the earliest. Nokia will probably want to release the 5530 XM before taking some of its features over to the 5800 XM, and that isn't expected until the 3rd quarter of this year in Europe and Asia. But for those of you who own the 5800 XM, at least you know that Nokia is working hard on improving your handset and the fruits of that labor could be on your phone by the end of the year.
