The Verizon box for the HP Pre 3
Apparently, the HP Pre 3 was going to be made available at both
Verizon and AT&T before HP stopped producing webOS hardware. While HP is not selling the device in the U.S.,
someone has put the phones up on eBay. The only model that we can say was sold on the auction site was one that came in a box with the Verizon logo. The Verizon variant of the HP Pre 3, went for $750. Interestingly enough, it turned out to be a "World Phone" with both CDMA and GSM radios aboard. And while a few AT&T branded models were listed for as high as $659.00, those listings, along with one seeking $899.99 for an AT&T branded HP TouchPad 4G, appear to
have been removed without even one bid for the devices on the site.
This might be a good time to point out the dangers of bidding on a HP Pre 3 on eBay. Because the phone is available in France, as we
reported, some models are being sold with an AZERTY keyboard. These units are unlocked and are allegedly compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile's pipelines in the States. We noticed some listings for a QWERTY keyboard equipped unit that said on the bottom of the listing that the phone actually had an AZERTY styled keyboard. Be careful!
