Unlocked LG G5 finally getting the Android 7.0 Nougat update in the US

If you haven't yet upgraded to the new LG G6 and still rock LG's last year flagship, chances are you'll be happy to learn that the long-awaited Android 7.0 Nougat update has been released for the unlocked version of the G5.

We're talking about the US version of the LG G5 (RS988), the one that's missing Android 7.0 Nougat for like six months. As many of you who own the unlocked LG G5 probably know by now, all major carriers in the US released the update at some point.

AT&T was among the last network operators to provide the Android 7.0 Nougat update to its customers who own the LG G5 back in February.

Well, three months later LG has finally managed to put itself together and release Nougat for the unlocked LG G5 in the United States. Keep in mind that this is a relatively sizeable update, so make sure you have at least 1.3GB free storage available on your phone.

The Android 7.0 Nougat update comes with the April security patch included. You should get it OTA (over the air) in the coming days, but you can manually check for it if you're anxious.
