Unannounced Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom (SM-C115) visits the FCC
The FCC today approved a new Samsung smartphone that goes by the model number SM-C115. According to previous reports, this is none other than the unannounced Galaxy S5 Zoom.
The FCC confirms that the SM-C115 features NFC and LTE connectivity, although it only mentions LTE band 2 and LTE band 5 - which aren’t widely used in the US. The diagram of the SM-C115 that showed up at the FCC matches a previously leaked image which allegedly showed the back of the Galaxy S5 Zoom.
Like the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom from last year, the S5 Zoom should have a powerful camera on the back: 20.2MP with 10x optical zoom, optical image stabilization, and Xenon Flash. The rest of its features will not be on par with the features offered by the regular Galaxy S5, reportedly including: a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display with 720 x 1280 pixels, Samsung’s
new Exynos 5 Hexa processor, 2GB of RAM, and microSD card support. The S5 Zoom should run Android 4.4 KitKat at launch.
Unfortunately, we don’t know when the S5 Zoom will be announced. Last year, Samsung revealed the S4 Zoom three months after announcing the Galaxy S4. Will the company also wait that long before introducing the S5 Zoom? Let's hope we'll find out soon.
