UPDATED: HTC Tattoo – a cheap Android device with the Sense UI
The long-awaited budget-friendly Android device from HTC has finally been announced under the name of HTC Tattoo! Last week we informed you of the rumors that this is going to be the name of the HTC Click in France, offered by Bouygues Telecom. However, it looks like the manufacturer has chosen this name for the phone and we have to admit that we like it better. One of the reasons behind this decision is the possibility to switch panels, i.e. each user can design their own panel, making their device look unique.

Another way to personalize the HTC Tattoo is through the interface, which surprisingly is the Sense UI - just like in HTC Hero. The Sense UI gives you the possibility to bind your phone to Facebook and Flickr and offers multiple home screens.

HTC Tattoo is going to be a compact device featuring a 2.8-inch screen with QVGA resolution, 3.2-megapixel camera, 3.5 mm jack and microSD slot. The processor is Qualcomm MSM7225, 528 MHz with 512MB ROM and 256MB RAM. Connecting to the Internet is ensured through HSDPA 7.2Mbps and Wi-Fi. 3G connectivity however is available in Asia and Europe only (900/2100 MHz). We hope a US version will also be released. HTC Tattoo is going to launch in Europe at the beginning of October, although price details are still unavailable, but it is expected to be cheaper than the Hero. We cross our fingers for an American version, and you?

*UPDATED*: We have just found out that the manufacturer is going to use a resistive screen for the HTC Tattoo in order to decrease its price. With that said, we cannot dream of a high-sensitivity screen like the one in HTC Hero.
