U.S. moving its porn viewing to mobile devices

The U.S. has shifted much of its internet viewing to mobile devices. That also applies to porn, according to information from PornHub. That site alone generated nearly 15 billion hits globally last year. That works out to 1.68 million visits per hour. And in the U.S., 52% of those who visited the site did so using a mobile phone while 10% came to the site (no pun intended) using a tablet. That is up from the 47% and 7% who used a phone and tablet to access the site in the states during 2012.

Out of all the countries tracked by the site, the U.S. led the way in the use of mobile devices to visit. On the other end of the spectrum, only 21% of PornHub's German based, uh, viewers. used a mobile phone to view the XXX rated videos. The U.S. is the only country that used a mobile phone more than half of the time to access the site.

We have to hand it to PornHub (again, no pun intended) as their stats are amazing. They have broken down usage of the site based on days of the week and time of day in each country, even posting which countries watch the site the most during one session. That would be the U.S. where the average user takes ten minutes to complete his, uh, task. The shortage average duration is seen in Japan where the average PornHub viewer spends 7 minutes and 14 seconds viewing a video.

Considering the heavier use of mobile devices to access the site, perhaps next year we can learn the locations in each country where the site is used the most.
