Two 4 inch Apple iPhone models to launch in 2013 with a larger sized model set for 2014 or beyond
Just Monday we passed along a rumor that came from Apple's upstream supply chain in Asia. The speculation was that there would be three variants of the Apple iPhone launched in 2013. In June, Apple would release the 7th-generation version of the phone called the Apple iPhone 5S and a version with a 4.8 inch screen called the Apple iPhone Math. And then later in the year, a version of the iPhone with a 12MP camera would be offered.
Only a day has gone by, and already we are hearing about a different variation on the rumor. Now, the two models that will be launched by Apple this year will both have 4 inch screens and a larger-screened model will be at least one year away. Of two 4 inch models, one will be the 7th-generation model called the Apple iPhone 5S, while the other will be a low cost version of the phone. The latter could have a polycarbonate body and come in various colors.
According to DigiTimes, shipments of the Apple iPhone will hit 37 million units in the first quarter with 20 million of those expected to be the Apple iPhone 5. That figure will drop, according to the report, and 18 million units of the Apple iPhone 5 will ship in the second quarter. We're sure that we don't have to remind you that when it comes to highly speculative forecasts like this one, the numbers should be taken with a grain of salt.
