Toshiba to unveil a cheapo tablet at CES too, according to rumors
We just informed you that at CES, Toshiba is going to unveil a tablet worthy of the “World's thinnest” and “World's lightest” titles. However, that might not be the only slate the company will have on display. According to a leak originating from Notebook Italia, Toshiba will also announce a tablet built for budget-conscious consumers.
In terms of specs, it is said that the device will have a 7-inch display with a resolution of 1024 by 600 pixels. Providing the processing power will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, and a basic camera will be located on its back. As far as connectivity is concerned, the tablet will offer a microUSB port, microSD card slot, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. That the device will run Android is not hard to predict, yet which flavor will be installed out of the box is not yet clear.
At a glance, this yet-unannounced Toshiba tablet is shaping up to be a competitor to the Amazon Kindle Fire, and as such, we would expect it to be priced no higher than $200. That is, if it ever sees the light of day, of course. Expect to hear more about the device at CES 2012.
