Toshiba and Apple join forces to build LCD production factory worth $1.2 billion
It is reported by the Japanese business daily website Nikkei that Toshiba's Mobile Display unit is set to construct LCD producing factory in the Ishikawa prefecture, Japan. This facility is expected to be partially funded by Apple and its main goal is to supply the Cupertino-based giant.

Toshiba Mobile Display already operates a plant in the prefecture producing 8.55 million low-temperature polysilicon small LCD panels with high-resolution (presumed to be the "Retina Display") a month. After the new factory is put into exploitation, reportedly in the second half of 2011, its producing capacity "is projected to more than double".
