Earlier this month, dating app Tinder got a new Super Like feature, soft-launched in Australia. What it does is, it gives users the ability to “super like” somebody once per 24 hours. A super-liked user will get notified that you are interested in them – this differs from the normal “likes” by the fact that they are anonymous, unless they are mutual (which forms a “match”). The fact that you can't scroll between users, but have to decide whether you like, dislike, or “super like” somebody before you can move on to the next one gives the new Super Like feature that much more weight, as users will try to use it only on special occasions... and hey – who doesn't like to be told “Hey, you're special!”, right?
Apparently the new feature was successful in its test run, as Tinder has now rolled the feature out globally. It's not an update – the new button will just mysteriously pop up in your app. It's represented by a button with a star picture. If you are the swiping type – you can activate Super Like by swiping up on a person's portrait.
