The Samsung Galaxy Spica will make its way to the US - says Samsung
With the Samsung Behold II already being an Android handset available here in the US, it wouldn’t seem too compelling if Samsung were to bring over the older Galaxy Spica. Yes, Samsung does indeed plan on launching the Galaxy Spica to the US market, but luckily it’ll be sporting a revamped look to set it apart from the Behold II. The first version of the Samsung Galaxy Spica was introduced overseas to our friends, but this new version will pack a 3.2” HVGA display, 800 MHz processor, and a 3-megapixel camera. If the Behold II’s custom TouchWiz interface didn’t float your boat, you’ll be glad to know that the Galaxy Spica will have the vanilla Android 1.5 interface instead. In addition, multimedia buffs will like knowing that it will provide native support for DivX, a 3.5mm headset jack, and access to all of the Android music and video apps. Now Samsung hasn’t released a target date, pricing, or information regarding which carrier will be getting the handset. Maybe this time around Samsung will have a hit as opposed to the lackluster and somewhat distant Behold II?
