The Pixel 7a will feature 8GB of RAM
Google sure does have a penchant for leaving prototype units of its upcoming devices lying around unattended. For reference, last year a Pixel Watch unit was lost and found at a bar more than half a year before its official launch. This time around, the Pixel 7a has suffered a similar fate.
A couple of days ago, a video of the Pixel 7a surfaced online, which gives us a good idea of what to expect from Google’s upcoming mid range smartphone and, spoiler alert - the handset is very impressive, despite technically being an entry-level device.
However, even if Google has now managed to lock the rogue prototype unit, it is still very useful to leakers, judging by one recent tweet, courtesy of @chunvn8888.
While the misplaced Pixel 7a can no longer go past the fastboot menu, the latter reveals a new interesting bit of information. By the looks of it, the Pixel 7a will feature 128GB of internal storage and 8GB of RAM.
With a flagship-grade SoC (i.e. the Tensor G2), a 90Hz display refresh rate and 8GB of RAM, the Pixel 7a may well become a true flagship killer. Especially if Google keeps the starting price the same as that of its predecessor, the Pixel 6a.
With many tech giants increasingly deciding to wage war over the premium and ultra-premium smartphone market segments, it is possible that Google might end up silently seizing an overlooked opportunity.
Nevertheless, It could be a good six months before we can *officially* get our hands on the Pixel 7a ourselves. In all likelihood, Google’s midranger will debut sometime in Summer 2023. One thing is beyond a doubt - the Pixel 7a is shaping up to be one of the most interesting devices on the horizon.

Remembering the Pixel 7a? The guy messaged me a few minutes ago that the phone is remotely locked by Google.

At least we now know another detail: 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB pic.twitter.com/ZRaDUXYSDW

The former is not all that interesting - 128GB is a fairly standard entry-level internal storage configuration. However, the 8GB of RAM are yet another example of just how powerful the Pixel 7a is going to be. It seems that Google is really stepping up its midrange game this year.
