A couple of months ago, Elephone teased us with a bit of information about an upcoming smartphone — the Elephone S9. The handset is supposed to be the company's flagship,
offering decent specs at an aggressive price point. We know that it will have a curved AMOLED screen with the new 18:9 aspect ratio, and minimal bezels, but the rest of the details were fuzzy.
Now, Elephone has dropped a few more tidbits of information, including the actual name for the device. There will be two phones — the Elephone U and an Elephone U Pro — one powered by a MediaTek processor and the latter humming with a 2.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 under its hood. Further about the U Pro, we now have confirmation that its back will have a dual camera module — two 13 MP sensors working in tandem and optimized by Arcsoft, which used to work with Huawei and Xiaomi on their cameras in the past. From the promo pictures we have thus far, we can see a fingerprint scanner will also be placed on the phone's back, just under the cameras.
According to Elephone's roadmap for future releases, the U Pro should be arriving sometime in January. We assume that once its unveiling date approaches, we will have some more details on pricing, though, considering the company's history, it's most probably going to be quite an affordable device for what it offers. So stay tuned!
