The Bell rings and the BlackBerry Tour is launched in Canada
With 4 carriers about to launch the BlackBerry Tour 9630 within days of each other, it is Bell up in Canada that draws first blood. The carrier announced today that orders can be placed online now for the handset, and those who want to buy it in person can purchase the Tour 9630 at Bell stores starting tomorrow, July 11th. The cost is $249.95 with the customary (in Canada) 3 year contract.
The BlackBerry Tour 9630 has a physical QWERTY keyboard, a 3.2MP camera with AF and video capture, an enhanced web browser, microSD slot that holds up to 16GB in expandable memory and support for BlackBerry App World. In the U.S., both Verizon and Sprint are set to release the Tour on Sunday, July 12th, for $199.99 which includes a rebate and your signature on a 2 year contract. Another Canadian carrier, Telus, will be offering their version of the handset on July 15th at $249.99 with a 3 year pact. As we've reported, those Telus customers in Canada can save $20 by purchasing their BlackBerry Tour from big box retailer Best Buy for $229.99 with the same 3 year contract.
