Every now and again, there's an indie game that really pushes the status quo. It's either too hard, too simple, too stylistically outlandish, or has button combinations that can't possibly be pressed in succession by seasoned game journalists.

A new game has just popped up on the iOS App Store, which is a mix of weird style, extremely simple mechanics, but a difficulty level that it will make you “Feel new types of frustration you didn't know you were capable of" — the game's own motto.

It's called Getting Over It and it's a single player experience that can take you between 2 hours and forever to complete. It's made by the developer of QWOP, so you know it's going to be rage-inducing. See, you are controlling a man who, for some reason, is stuck in a huge pot from the waist down. In his hands, he has a long hammer. It is that hammer you need to use to move around — by swinging it, you can pull yourself towards or push yourself away from objects. Your goal? Climb to the top of the mountain... if you can.

See, there's no saving or checkpoints in this game. If you fall while trying to topple an impossibly hard obstacle, you may tumble down the mountain and lose about half an hour worth of progress, if not more. Do you dare try the challenge?

The game is off to a running start, no small thanks to the fact that it was featured by a ton of gaming YouTubers. Not many of them finished it though...
